A magical place that offers unparalleled opportunities for relaxation and recreation within the pristine waters of Sechelt
Seal Cove Cabins offer an excellent base for diving or kayaking parties, exploring old growth forest or relaxing with friends and family. Part of a working oyster farm, the cove, its beaches and the upland area is private property available to cabin guests only. This guarantees a truly exclusive and memorable experience.
Seal Cove Cabins are on the site of a former logger’s camp and the old logging road now makes for an easy walking trail. Ambitious travelers can use the cabins as base camp for a hike to the top of Mt Richardson. Everyone can enjoy the smaller, easier trails that weave throughout the property and offer numerous picnic, inlet and wildlife viewing spots.
Accessible by water only, Seal Cove Cabins can be your gateway to some of BC’s greatest natural treasures. Abundant sea life, natural reefs, the HMCS Chaudiere artificial reef, and great underwater visibility make the area one of the best places to take a scuba dive vacation. Sechelt Inlet, Salmon Inlet and Narrows Inlet offer a perfect paddling experience for kayakers of all skill levels and an opportunity to seek purple, pink and orange starfish hiding in rock crevices, and rock crab scuttling through sea grass. Summer nights offer the promise of bio-luminescence and an underwater lightshow that can’t be rivaled. Guests are welcome to use the cabin’s two person canoe to explore the cove or to collect beach oysters
Bird watchers will find cormorants drying their wings in the sun and bald eagles perching high in the trees or soaring above the blue and green waters of the inlet. Numerous varieties of ducks and other water fowl have made the cove their home. Most mornings will see the arrival of seals that play hide and seek among the oyster rafts. Dahl porpoises also occasionally make their way into the inlet – delighting locals and visitors alike. Other more common visitors include otters, marmots, deer and black bear. A pod of orcas arrived on June 1st 2010.
There are three cabins within Seal Cove – currently only the Main Cabin is available for rent. The other two cabins will be available starting July 2010. Once the other two cabins are ready Seal Cove will be an excellent and affordable option for retreats or multi-family gatherings.
