Palm Beach has the best combination of everything found on the west coast. The beautiful horseshoe shaped sandy beach is flanked on one end by a rocky headland (which we call Oyster Rock) and low tide exposes many small pools and their diverse marine life.
On the other end is Eagle River which flows crystal green among high rocky bluffs into a series of waterfalls and clear freshwater pools that are ideal for swimming. In between Oyster Rock and Eagle River you can relax and suntan on our grassy front lawn while you watch your kids explore the beach just yards away.
Driftwood logs, oysters, clams, sand dollars and the rich fragrance of west coast sea - all will add to the magic of your stay. After a full day of exploring you'll need a private, quiet place in which to relax. Our accommodations provide just such a sanctuary. The two cottages are ideally suited to host weddings, reunions, retreats or weekend workshops.
The "Beach House" is the place to stay for a larger family or perhaps two smaller families. The "Cottage" is a great place for a romantic weekend or a cozy time with your young family. Each cottage retains its privacy yet both lend themselves to sharing the common area of the yard and beach, and have uninterrupted south-facing views of the water.
After a barbeque, relax on your front deck and watch the sun set on the majestic Georgia Strait. With the waves lapping against the shore, you'll never sleep more peacefully. In the morning, with a coffee in hand, wander down the beach to Oyster Rock, where you might get close to a bald eagle sitting on the rocky outcrop enjoying his first salmon catch of the day.
If you need a diversion from the beach, the activities in the area are numerous. The charming coastal community of Powell River is 15 kilometers further along the highway and has everything you might require, from restaurants to mall shopping. There's even a Wal-Mart! You can take in a movie at the 75 year old Patricia Theatre, Canada's oldest operating movie theatre, located in one of BC's most intact urban heritage districts.
There are an abundance of outdoor activities all within a few minutes of Palm Beach. Golf, fly fishing in the many lakes, hundreds of kilometers of hiking and mountain biking trails, scuba diving, rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing or horseback riding are among the numerous choices.
Rain or shine, sunny or stormy, Palm Beach has a special magic all its own.

Palm Beach Cottages are located on Lang Bay, 15 km southeast of Powell River on Highway 101. From Vancouver, two exhilarating ferry boat rides and a winding highway that meanders along the magnificent Sunshine Coast places you at our beachfront four hours after leaving Horseshoe Bay, the ferry terminal in West Vancouver.
The first ferry to Langdale is 40 minutes and from there to Earl's Cove it's a relaxing hour and half drive to cover 90 kilometers. Catch the next 50 minute ferry to Saltery Bay and from there it's 13 km to Lang Bay Road off Highway 101. Turn left towards the water and in a couple of blocks you'll see our sign. A long private drive through tall Douglas Fir trees brings you to your vacation home at the beach. It's an easy trip especially with children and since so little time is spent in the car, you're already relaxed when you arrive!
You can also fly with Pacific Coastal Airlines, serving Powell River five times a day from the Vancouver Airport.
ACCOMMODATION The "Beach House" has 2 separate bedrooms for couples and third room with two sets of bunk beds - sleeping 8 persons in all. An open kitchen, living room, glassed in dining area and a large seaside deck make it easily comfortable.
The cozier-sized "Cottage" also has two separate bedrooms - sleeping 5. This is a very comfortable accommodation for a family of five or two couples. It also has an open kitchen, dining area, with a living room and a front deck. Both homes are equipped with everything you'll need to enjoy your stay.
In the summer there's no better place on the planet than BC's West Coast and Palm Beach is a relatively undiscovered gem. But once you've discovered its magic you may have a difficult time leaving! It's a place you and your children will look forward to returning to year after year.
